Percentages of amounts : Explanation

A percentage talks about the number of parts out of one hundred. For example, 50% of something means the same as 50 parts out of a hundred.  The per cent symbol means ‘per hundred’. Find out in this section how to work out a percentage of a number, and how to tackle percentage problems.
